K - long time no see!! and re: CEO is describing Thanksgiving sales as "robust."
TAKE THAT, GTW and Micron - now we know why their Thanksgiving sales were down 30% - not market weakness, but CPQ eating their lunch in the consumer space!

NEW YORK, Dec 1 - Corporate Credit Rating BBB/Stable/A-2
Compaq Computer Corp.'s board of directors recently authorized
the company to repurchase up to $1 billion of common shares.
Standard & Poor's does not expect this authorization to
have any impact on Compaq's ratings.
Compaq has a conservative balance sheet for its rating
level, and a significant cash position.
While cash balances may fluctuate somewhat, Compaq is
expected to maintain consistent profitability and a strong
financial profile.
