cHECK THIS OUT. Oops, take off the capslock:

11:26 ET Compaq (CPQ) 23.91 +2.41 (+11.2%): -- Update -- Dow Jones reporting that PC maker's CEO is describing Thanksgiving sales as "robust."

Now, I assume Compaq means PC sales there, what with all the negative stuff flying around from GTW and MUEI. Compaq's product mix, from a statement made by their CEO yesterday is like:

Our revenues are also balanced across key markets. In Q3, we generated 34 percent of our revenue from enterprise servers and storage, 31 percent from commercial PCs, 19 percent from consumer PCs and 16 percent from global services. In other words, we have significant enterprise strengths, broad reach in the market and a balanced portfolio.

If they mean today that PC sales are robust, and, again, I would think they'd be talking retail because of the negative flak in that area, then I'd bet Compaq is looking good overall for the quarter. This is because retail is supposed to be the weakest segment for a company like Compaq right now. If that's good, their other products are probably selling better or they wouldn't be coming out, I wouldn't think. Point is that all their business PCs, and all of their industry standard servers are Intel based. This has to be good for Intel.

Whattaya mean you're ready to pull the trigger. If I didn't have enough/too much Intel already...

The Yankees are getting Mussina, aren't they? There goes next year's pennant AND world series.

Tony
