ed - *ot* - I looked at BMW - the 430 is snappier than the 740. The 750 is a little faster, but I didn't like the "feel" or creature comforts as well. Also had a bad experience years ago with a BMW735, the air conditioning kept screwing up and I had it in about every other week, they never did get it fixed. The compressor would turn on and off in unpredictable ways. How hard can that be to diagnose?

Not to mention that the German cars, as you say, come at a price premium that is not matched by any additional value. I'm not sure that I want to pay a premium to keep German "artisans" employed, I'd rather give the money to the Houston Symphony.
