No, I realized that. I was just saying that my initial interest in consciousness was involving NNs and has followed a life-long interest in ontological and other philosophical questions. NNs are not good approximations to higher-level consciousness (IMO) though Tiger Paw, who posts here once in a while, knows quite a bit more about them than I do. I've written one from the ground up in C++ a few years back and tried it out on the stock market and football scores. Marginal successes but no magic. Tiger Paw seems to feel they are better approximations of intelligence than I do, so I defer to him somewhat on this since he actually does it for a living.
