You are right, Intel usually revises guidance before the last month of the quarter. Another week and with only three weeks left in the quarter, you can usually guess that they will be +/- guidance by 4% or so. There was one exception where they changed guidance very late in the quarter, unfortunately it was last quarter, so it is fresh in everyone's memory.

Your historical perspective really supports why INTC should give guidance more often throughout the quarter. If they came out now and said, "our Q4 guidance is reaffirmed and the issues sited by some of our customers have already been included in our expectations".

This would settle everything down I think. Right now the market is taking the GTW news as incremental and new relative to INTC's prior guidance and thus the freefall.

I always think more information provided more consistently over time is in the shareholders best interest.
