Yes, that's true but I think we can all agree that, like so many things, partisan passions seem have a certain cyclic behavior - all things will pass. My son is a Poli Sci major and I've really enjoyed reading his textbooks on early American political history and the development of our institutions up to the Civil War. Talk about knock-down drag-out battles beween parties, between the branches of government, even between agencies. In truth though, I wish things were more civil, but I personally lay the increasing strife at the feet of the Republicans and I urge my guys to be tough in the face of it. That's all IMHO.
