Mary,

It's at least comforting to know that I am not a lone voice in the wilderness. It is not like it would take away from focussing on managing the operational part of the business. Profit forecasts are updated almost perpetually these days. All you need is someone in IR to take responsibility for deriving a theme based on this forecast. Get Andy and Executive Committee approval to it and then market that message to the financial community.

I would argue that INTC can add 20% to shareholder value simply by marketing themselves better to the investment community. And they certainly could reduce the variability in the price by "trumping" the analysts comments with their own updates given on a more regular basis (i.e. monthly).

For such a first rate company operationally and strategically, they really suck on the investment community management side. I don't think they realize how inefficient the market really is.
