<<next two weeks: earnings warnings, tax loss selling
we should be retesting the lows on Thursday

US Supreme Court will side with Gore
I say that with 95% confidence>>

Are you taking your own advice?? Are you long, cash or short??

I, too, think Gore is going to pull this out and it gets messier before it gets better, but I still dont have the balls to go short, and am staying put, fully vested and will ride out the storm.

For now, I am going to do my best to clear my mind of this market for the weekend...I hope I accomplish my goal. I would have much preferred a close on the high, rather then all the selling into the close, but I expected it, so......at least there are still alot of shorts to fry.....sometime.

Have a great weekend everybody\
Keith

JWCB, I don't think we'll see significant tax selling this year. If people were selling their losers, they may have to sell their entire portfolio this year LOL.

Investors don't have the luxury of selling losers this year to offset winners. My belief is that people have been selling off losers for the last 3 months just to stay alive in this market.

US Supreme Ct. Ruling for Gore would at worst create a knee jerk, very buyable sell-off. A ruling against Bush does not really hurt him. Gore would still have to win the "contest" and all related appeals. A ruling against Gore is fatal psychology for Gore. The Sp. Ct. tacitly hinted today 2 major things. One, that if they rule against Bush now, that the same issue may be "ripe" to be heard again IF the Fla. Sp. Ct. were to overturn the Sec. of State's Certification. Two, that the Florida Legislature may proceed with their effort as it is Constitutionally clear that State Legislatures have the power to pick a State's Electors.

I disagree. And the former US Supreme Court law clerks on MSNBC disagree with you also they say it's 4-4 with Sandra Day O'Connor in the middle and in the end should come down on Scalia's side.

It's only the lawyers and media saying otherwise. They say the law clerks often write the opinions and have a pretty good idea what the Justices are thinking.
