Don, so much for the usual Friday 'lets give the public at large some hope' finish. I guess the NASD did finish up ... but as I mentined earlier ... the techs I watched were under distribution ... just like they have been for a while.

Not very positive for the upside just yet imho ...

Have a great weekend everyone !!

Stephen

Don, We got a closing breakdown on the Dow, below 10,380, so I see that going to 9800-10,000. The only definitive pattern I got on the NDX was a small rising wedge that was fulfilled on the 2500 retest. I'm wondering if it was a bear flag, with a 450-point pole, which would carry the NDX to 2150-2200. Don't know if they all line up, but at the moment I'm getting targets of 9,800 INDU, 1200 SPX, 2200 NDX, and 400 SOX, with the caveat that the lower you go, the less likely chart patterns are to complete their full predicted moves.

Afternoon fear...

15:38 ET Intel (INTC) 34 1/16 -4: Evidence of paranoia: rumors of another big tech warning started with Motorola (MOT) and have now spread to Intel (INTC), which is not a surprising target given misses from Gateway (GTW) and Micron Electronics (MUEI); these are all just rumors at this point but they are clearly taking their toll on the Nasdaq (+6).

15:15 ET Motorola (MOT) 19 1/4 -13/16: Stock has come off 1 1/2 points in the past couple hours; hearing trading floor rumors that the company will miss its quarter.
