Analysts are noted for being sure to have some kind of opinion out there before a potentially explosive legal decision. Then they can claim "they had their clients on alert". I read that after the QCOM litigation and settlements, what, eighteen months ago?, that some houses were criticized for failing to provide guidance on the the possibility of such a victory. So, even if Rambus does not prevail, they can say they pointed out the pros and cons of the stock. If Rambus wins big, they can point out that they were on top of it. As for H and Q, just dusting off some old files and getting on the record.
