Don, I think INTC will either preannounce in Dec or get downgraded
or guide lower during CC in January. Either way Jan poots should do.
I was amazed when they preannounced in Sep.

Don, i don't really think so...mainly because first of all the PC makers were very likely over-ordering lots of parts due to now proven WRONG! -g - expectations regarding a Win2k demand ramp and the usually strong Q4 falling flat on its face, and secondly because some time ago a price war with AMD has broken out, a sign that demand must have started to falter back then.
and then there's the old investment gains game which INTC has been playing...their remaining portfolio of tech investments is in tatters. as Chic has mentioned, that's reverse leverage in action now.
even if they somehow manage to miraculously scrape through this Q and meet reduced expectations, they will be forced to lower guidance.
remember, Earlie told us about faltering PC demand and channel stuffing etc. in the summer already after he had completed a period of intensive field research.
