I see that the recipe does it the right way: boil the matzoh balls separately so they don't cloud the broth of the soup.

A couple of matzoh ball hints taught to me by a good Jewish cook:

Oil is the preferred fat, particularly as this dish is served on Hannukah and Passover.

You can shape the matzoh balls with oiled hands. it's easier that way.

Make sure the matzoh balls are on the small side when you put them in the pot to cook: they plump up. (I know this because my first batch looked like snowballs when they were done <g>).

I've been thinking of digging up some Christmas cookie recipes. Want to exchange some?
