Mitch,
Since I am on igore with Chris...
I think that the first Commandment is...

You shall have no other gods but me.....

I fail to see where this denies the existence of other gods.
Linguistics. Nothing more....but doesn't it imply that one can have several gods? Just as long as one is held 'most high'?
Soooo....do we have multiple gods and multiple heavens and hells? Heaven for this one....hell for that one?
Or do we simplify...Occams Razor? The simplest explanation is probably right? If we insist on a morality....would not Do right be adequate?
There is my problem with Mr Land......

You cannot piss on people...living and dead...and feel self-righteous about it....

JMHO. He enjoys it too much. Torquemada...nothing more....

Isaiah 44

Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

<<<The "other two" that you were ignorant of both pre-date Christianity. Are you sure you want to equate truthfulness with ancientness?>>>>

Predates Christianity, not hardly!!!! The one and only true God, the God of the Christians didn't just come on the scene two thousand years ago and start a new religion. I trace the dealings of God with other believers all the way back to Adam and Eve. Not a Christian in the world would deny they aren't related to them. We follow our spiritual roots through the old world which was flooded into the new with Noah. Abraham who was called the father of Faith is a household name with Christians and we sympathize with Gods prophets of old, all of which looked forward to the coming of messiah. After Jesus (messiah)had been condemned, crucified and then risen again the Holy Spirit (the third person in the trinity) was sent to abide with God's people. It is the Holy Spirit, along with God's word which convicts us of our sin and causes us to look to our redeemer, Jesus Christ. Without his atonement for our sins we would never be able to have fellowship with God.
