doc,
It hasn't been hidden at all, just drowned in the flood tide of other stories. Wish I could find the original references showing county to voting machine types. They were posted in the George Bush thread around November 15th as I recall. Talk about finding a needle in a haystack.

Would one of you republicans explain the difference between optically scanned ballots and punch card ballots. I had no idea there was anyone here that knew so little about what is going on. I would myself but there is a better chance of him believing it if he hears it from one of his comrades.

Party..my other point is this optical stuff, coming so late into the proceedings...why hide this for so long....why were we all so stupid not to figure this out...couldn't have Gore or liberman gone on record two nights after theelection and said wait a minute...optical scanning will give us a non-biased vote....thus validating the need for manual recount in those non-optically scanned counties...that does make sense to me...sowhy suppress that fair rationale for manualcount for so long...THAT doesn't make sense and I've learned, as you doubtless have that something else must be up...would love to see the other side of this opinion if it exists...interesting

doc,

There was a relevant article in today's Washington Post:

Fla. Black Votes Were More Likely Tossed

washingtonpost.com

It includes this interesting paragraph:

"Senior GOP strategists say privately that a key reason the Bush campaign did not ask for a statewide recount was it feared that Gore would pick up more votes than Bush, because of the high rate of ballot spoilage in black precincts."
