It seems to me that part of the selloff is fear that MSFT might have trouble meeting earnings this quarter, but I don't think that's the real issue. A couple of PC companies are seeing lower sales than expected, but others are experiencing good sales. So far there's no apparent sign that MSFT is worried about this quarter.

So what gives? The stock started to fall the day that it hit 72 briefly and that day coincided with their brief being filed with the appellate court. Was there something relative to the trial that we missed that might have triggered this fall? The GTW news hit the stock a lot harder than it should have and the stock seems to have completely ignored other companies noting that sales are good.

Or, was it simply technical? Did MSFT have trouble getting through resistance at 72 and decide it was time to sell off? There are way too many people out there that simply follow charts. That probably increased the selling pressure as it turned down from 72.

Any ideas?
