Well, I am using a Dell PII 400/128 right now with W98 and it has been an awesome machine. If I want to go for W2k, it appears the price over $200 bucks, then I have to wade through the install which doesn't sound fun, and I'm still working with an older chip. For $900 more (than the price of buying W2k) I get the newer chip with double the speed, twice my current ram and more than double hard drive size. That is pretty appealing. I am debating whether to opt for an even faster chip for a few bucks more. Think 800 Mhz is as fast as I need? I don't do games or video.

How do you like the Inspiron? I have a friend who just got a Dell laptop (not Inspiron, I forget the model) that is unreal slim and weighs about a pound. Amazing!

best,

Rick
