She is one classy lady and had no reason to "expose" her private life to the media's glare. She has withdrawn from public life admirably since that horrific summer sent her tumbling. She has lived in dignity since then. Clarence Thomas' time on the U.S. Supreme Court will eventually be fodder for comic books. The man is sitting at tables reserved for the likes of Brandeis, Frankfurter, and Holmes. This is an institution that protects us from ourselves. It is the United States Supreme Court. Associate Justice Clarence Thomas. It is preposterous. The appointment was a disgrace. It was an insult to the American people. This is not even debatable. Is it? No! Douglas, Black, Warren, . . . .
