Hi Lucky, congrats on your gains,,any gains in this market is a major accomplishment!! CHK is a funny animal, have followed it for almost 3 years, they seem to make all the right moves increasing their value..But, IMO investors (impatient ones)want to see substantial increased production #'s, Q over Q..Granted, with the more rapid decline(faster than oil) in gas production over the life of a well, just holding the overall production level constant ain't bad either<g>..
"Production for the third quarter of 2000 was 33.7 billion cubic feet of natural gas equivalent (bcfe), comprised of 29.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas (bcf) and 761 thousand barrels of oil (mbo). Gas production increased 6.3% from the third quarter of 1999 and decreased 0.7% from the second quarter of 2000. The sequential quarterly gas production decline resulted from a 0.9 bcfe decrease in Canadian gas production caused primarily by longer than expected gas plant maintenance. Without the Canadian production shortfall, the company's sequential gas production would have increased 2.4%. Pro forma for Chesapeake's pending merger with Gothic Energy Corporation, the company's third quarter 2000 production would have increased by 21% to 40.7 bcfe, comprised of 36.0 bcf and 790 mbo."

This is an excellent company, and management was smart enough to put their efforts into NG, as opposed to oil--they saw the light earlier than most..The biggest overhang to the stock price, is the in the past Chalk failure,,many investors got their asses kicked after the stock had been hyped far to high, not to mention the debt which was taken on at that time, massive writeoffs etc...takes a long time for all this to work through the investors(institutional) mindset..I think these type of negative feelings will overhang WCOM as well, many have lost a ton of cash on this this stock, and they won't forget anytime soon<g>..One man's misfortune, is an opportunity for others...such is life<g>...
Here's one of my Dad's old fuddy-duddy stocks- Cracker Barrel, I haven't been paying enough attention to the master<lol>...how's that for performance through these past few months! My folks are on the road in the Winnie now for the next 7 months or so,Dad keeps telling me.."Well, their parking lots always seem to be full"...

A look at the longerterm chart shows he had to be patient to get back to even though, but he did average down..Would have been a great buy at 10 or so..when she broke up through the triple top..
