John

I for one appreciate your sharing these trades, the info on Times Square in Hong Kong is also very interesting. I would suspect many of us in NA have no idea that these modifications to cell phones were happening.

Can you imagine Christmas trees glistening with 100's or 1,000's of leds. Brings a twinkle to my eye.

I am strictly LTBH, but I find your short-term day-trade postings quite interesting, so keep it up.

John,
I'm sorry if I've offended you with my language.Honestly. However I see no benefit to anyone from your posting so many reports of your day trades on the message board. In fact, it's inconsistent with your previous type of posts.Maybe I'm getting too disgusted with the FUD that has been going on about CREE.

John,
It appears that I owe you an apology.I did not realize that the information you posted would be of any benefit to anyone.Because of my lack of knowledge I assumed that you were just bragging about your profits in day trading. Of course I would encourage you to post information which would be of benefit to others.Next week I'm on a much needed vacation in warmer climes where I'll be able to mutter about pin placements instead of thestreet.com.

John: Keep on posting. I am the guy on the other end of all your trades and I am losing my shirt on this day trading thing. If you will please post your intentions BEFORE you do it, maybe I can beat you to the punch instead of getting punched. <VBG>

John, from a lurquer. This thread needed some "action". But you have to give us the "good" and the "bad".

Now for some serious OT. Years ago as a much younger man I had the pleasure of visiting your part of the world. I was out one day, hungry and bot an egg roll from a street vendor. Paid $1 HK. Shortly thereafter I struck up a conversation with an Asian woman, who also had an egg roll. She asked me how much I paid. She had paid half and taught me they saw me coming. I can't begin to tell you how much money that lesson has saved me over the last 20 couple years <g>

Been adding but selling covered calls on each bounce. Trying to keep up with Uncle Frank's success <g>.

Tony

hi john,
i have been traveling for 2 weeks but you know my answer.
to see your thinking i had to run a 15 month chart...i'd say you made some great trades on well-founded reasoning.
continued good luck.

Thanks for your postings, John. I have held CREE since the sub-30 days, on the basis of its earnings growth and products. But I also regularly day trade/position trade CREE on the basis of its volatility. I have to say, that this year, I have made a lot more money daytrading stocks than from the buy and hold side of the portfolio. Both approaches are perfectly valid, depending on the goals and techniques of the investor/trader. I am not endorsing day trading per se..but one has to consider the biggest day traders by far are the trading desks at such market makers as Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. They often move enough shares to move markets on thinly traded days.
One last comment: Be careful with margin trading folks! I only use margin for shorting. Margin can bring you to an earlier than expected meeting with the Grim Reaper.
