"Had he graciously accepted the loss after the first round of recounts,
he could still have salvaged another run in 2004. But now it's too late. His Party will never nominate him again; he
must win this election, no matter the cost."

Personal ambition run wild in my opinion makes him unworthy of the office forever. I felt that way about Nixon befoe Watergate and was proved correct after Watergate.
PS I voted for Gore and I voted for Nixon once--both votes while holding my nose. After this fiasco, I must say now I would vote for McGovern and GWB.

This political fight is not about getting a correct count of the votes.

Exactly right. This is about "finding" ballots with votes for Gore even if they are only dimpled. But then only in 3 heavily Democratic counties. There are 35 counties in FLA which had a higher undercount rate than Miami-Dade, yet Gore does not want a handcount in these. If he was truly in favor of all votes being counted, he would not have waited for Bush to ask for a handcount but would have done it on his own.

Clinton's impeachment was not about sex; it was about lying under oath. Gore's "all votes must be counted" is a similar nonsensical mantra in that he only wants certain votes counted.

Gore's legal team headed by Boies even lied in their presentation and misrepresentation to the FLA SC in that the IL case they cited did not allow for a broad count of dimpled ballots. One of many lies by the Gore team in their scorched earth power grab attempt.
