The Bubble and the Damage Done

Abby Jo's knocking at my cellar door
I love you baby won't you buy some more
oh, the damage done

We hit reality and I lost my ass
Bubble Clownbuck popped and ground to glass
gone, gone the damage done

I sing the song because I hate Greenspan
I know that some of you don't understand
no way that I retire early, now

I've seen the bubble and the damage done
a little part of it in everyone
but every stock is like the setting sun

(with apologies to Neil Young)

interesting that all the indexes, SPX, Dow, and NDX are all lined up to fall together now. 30% drop in all looks very probable... that would put the naz near 1800, dow and SPX rt near the 1998 lows... got crash?

Bernie puking to neutral is a warning, no question -- but an early warning.

I've been reading Schaeffer almost daily the entire year. The guy may be somewhat in denial compared to the extreme bearishness displayed on this thread, but he is no Clown by any means. Compared to the other jokers calling bottoms on wall street, I'd say he is definitely one of the better ones. Here is a piece from him a few weeks ago:

KANGAS: Your bearish nature says buy puts on what kind of stock?

SCHAEFFER: Well, I would still look to the technology leaders. I don't think the, I think the party is to the down side is kind of just beginning on some of those stocks that kind of refused to go down until recently like the Ciscos (NASDAQ:CSCO) and the Suns (NASDAQ:SUNW).

KANGAS: And you are buying puts on a Cisco, for example?

SCHAEFFER: Yes.

KANGAS: Really? Anything else?

SCHAEFFER: Well, in the technology sector, Cisco, Sun, Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) is another stock that I, that I'm not too thrilled with.

KANGAS: OK.

SCHAEFFER: EMC (NYSE:EMC), the so-called four horsemen that were leading the NASDAQ up.
