<Voltaire, I don't hate you. I said yesterday that I think your intentions are entirely honorable. I am upset by the continued calls to buy, buy, buy, with the implicationbeing that angels will protect those who do, that the faithful (faithful to Voltaire, that is) will be rewarded. This is the stock market not a little southern church. This is people's hard-earned retirement money, not stardust. This is financial devastation to a great many people, not a joke.
I understand your attempt to "balance" the views of someone who wishes to see the realities of the stock market under halos of angels, further fogged by using the rose colored glasses of faith.
However, one must wonder the expected response, (derived from the sanity of the respondent), who holds such views. Clearly illogical and certainly NOT factual.
Picture this...
Client: Mr. Broker, I have heard so much about this new IPO, Angelical, Inc. (symbol LOCO, traded at the NASQUACK market), I want to buy it. what is your recommendation ?
Broker: Mr. Client, I believe that Angelical has excellent prospects, the business of faith is clearly on the upswing. You see, in the recent market debacle, caused in part by the indecision we are experiencing in choosing our head dunce has driven hoards of people to the Angelical.bom website. We should disregard --for the moment-- other technical and fundamental reasons, since we are on a period of "leadership rotation", that Angelical, Inc should be benefited in this rotation.
Millions are seeking the "perfect" answer not only to this pending issue, but in addition, they are calling to see if they can file a petition to the Supreme Court of all Deities to strike down the law of supply and demand. In addition, they are also requesting that free markets be biased to the UPSIDE --BY CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT--
Mr. Client: Fantastic ! Business must be BOOMING. When do they report earnings?
Mr. Broker: Well, ahem, they don't.
Mr. Client: They don't ? what do you mean, are they not making millions ?
Mr. Broker: No, of course not, actually, they do NOT charge for their services at their website. As a matter of fact, they operate using volunteers manning the phones.
This is the beauty of this company, in addition to the services they provide, they use the homeless as volunteers to man the phones. It is a "socially responsible" company.
Mr. Client: Well, er... what is the price of the stock ?
Mr. Broker: A mere $200/share... One should buy now with both hands and glee, since it is LOW, down from $850.00 a true bargain !
Mr. Client: (Gasp !) Is it marginable ?
Mr. Broker: Of course, our risk department has determined that at current levels, the downside is minimal, so they have given it a equity/margin of 80%, of course our firm, in the best interest of our clients reserves the right to change that to 100% equity. But fear not, at these levels, I imagine that the worst we can see is $189.00. This would be in an extreme case, for example that given the current presidential indecision leads to a Washington DC lawyer led Coup d'etat. --it will never happen, I assure you.
Mr. Client: By the way, what is it that they do at their website ? In other words, what is their business?
Mr. Broker: Well, it is simple, they give advice on faith ! very popular these days of market turmoil, recession proof ! Their clientele profile covers all social and economic levels, you know political correctness is their guide. Besides, they have the LATEST TECHNOLOGY available to them. Look in this website so you can see it:
newgrounds.com
Mr. Client: Oh very well, then... Buy 5,000 shares, I will refinance my house but buy it before it is too late.
