So what is keeping Fixed Broadband Wireless from rolling out in enough numbers to generate stats?

Nothing, we have already done it nationally....and will be open in another 5 cities soon..<vbg>..Local loops to fiber, Oh ya~

Hi Mike:

Re. BBFW, keep in mind that the ``low hanging fruits''
are all in the business market, specifically businesses
located in non-fiber connected buildings. This is the
market segment BBFW companies have been addressing
with some success (if I remember correctly Verizon's
market share in *new business lines* is down to
about 50%). But the installed copper base is so huge
it will take time until these numbers affect cumulative old/new business/residential statistics.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy

RE: Last mile or last meter. Someday's it just doesn't pay to get out of the tech bed.

Hi Mike,

Last commute mile is probably in a provident and provincial, if not parochial setting. But out there on the quad-laned mittel-miles, life seems to becoming a rosy scenario at a molasses rate:
eetimes.com

The in-car PC boom that was supposed to be in full swing by now hasn't happened, and it may be delayed another 12 to 18 months as automakers and vendors run up against hurdles

Seems like this brave new wireless Internet world is gonna take a few more trips to the the drafting board...... unless it gets tripped up out on the track...

Best, Ray
