Hi Poet,

I am by no means, a constitutional law expert. I went to law school in Detroit and in Canada....

There are at least 4 separate main lawsuits commenced in Florida state courts designed to challenge the certified resuls of the election.

The court proceedings this morning were brought by Gore are contesting the results from two counties, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach...I believe they seeking to have manual recounts of ballots that showed no vote for President when they were scanned by the computer...about 14,000 votes..there also other separate grounds of objection that are filed...

The court is actually conducting a full trial this morning complete with witnesses in a time compressed period of only 12 hours...that alone boggles my mind and indicates that the presiding Judge wants to be in a position to make a decision that will not be rendered moot by the deadlines requiring the State of Florida to have its slate of electors certifed by December 12...once a decision is rendered in this case, it will be appealed (by either side, or both) to the Florida Supreme Court..again there is precious little time for these legal gyrations...

The crucial point for the Gore team is to actually obtain a decision that will get the votes (14,000) counted...they have actually tried to convince the Judge to start counting while they are arguing their case...the Judge turned them down...

Another interesting case has been brought by an attorney in his personal capacity in Seminole County contesting the results of that county based on irregularities in the processing of the absentee ballots...if he succeeds, over 10,000 absentee ballots will be declared null and void and with it the Bush margin of victory as well...

Stay tuned...this is going to get heat up very quickly,if Gore is successful in one case, you may see a shift a public opinion about Bush trying to stop the will of the people...his brother Jeb, btw, imo, strikes me as far more intelligent and sly than his older brother...
