Dr. Levy,

QCOM is aware of all favors of CDMA systems developed on the market. It actually issued a press release to claim that QCOM own all essential patents no matter which favor in development on the market.

Reg. Dr. William Lee. I am not sure he is just a figure head or in fact in charge of all developments on LAS-CDMA. However, he talks a lot about 4G recently. Can LAS-CDMA be commercialized remain to be seen.

Qualified opinion: I am not a technie in any way. Just read a lot of press releases. :-)

Best.

Note that the Bill Lee of LinkAir used to be CTO at Airtouch and one of the early proponents of CDMA.

LinkAir is currently attempting to standardize LAS-CDMA as a part of the 1xEV-DV standard. The 3GPP2 is combining aspects from three different proposals....Lucent, Motorola (1XTREME) and Link-Air (LAS-CDMA). Now that the 3GPP2 has standardized 1xEV-DO (HDR), it is likely that the standardization of 1xEV-DV will be expedited. Here is a link to an FTP site where you can download various documents on the three different proposals.

Note that an employee from Qualcomm is one of the co-chairs of the comittee that is doing the work....so at the very least, they are watching the developments closely.

Also, here is a technical overview of LAS-CDMA by one of the more sceptical members of the Q thread (courtesy of Mightylakers)....
