The Bush campaign theme has not been altered since this first started. The subjective nature of manual recounts (partisan participants voting on votes - Gunzburger would be a good example) is what the Bush campaign is trying to thwart. Lawyers do what they do to win cases. The Bush lawyers try to kill time because the Gore lawyers try to accelerate. Boies creates charts to try to sell the contention that undervote percentages are the same in "chad" counties as they are in "optical scan" counties. It is quite likely that he's oversimplifying. But lawyers are not paid to think, they are paid to argue cases.
