From The National Post up here in canuckland:

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT: A high-profile venture capital company has decided to take a breather. Crosspoint Venture Partners, which backed stories such as Ariba Inc. and Brocade Communications Systems Inc., told clients to hold off on sending in the US$1-billion committed for a new capital pool.

"With the market in the current state, can we produce the kind of returns we want on a billion-dollar fund? The answer was 'we're not sure, and until we are sure we're not going to ask you to write the cheque,' " said Richard Shapero, Crosspoint managing partner.

More anecdotal proof of the dry up in VC.
