Everyone that has investments has "method". The question is whether it is a good method. A good method is one in which the investment appreciates. If one had bought an S&P 500 index fund in mid-april 1999, one would now be underwater by the amount of inflation in that period. Similar results for a Dow 30 fund. An NDX fund would be in the same situation over the past year.

If we should go into recession, or stagflation, either of which seem quite possible, what "good" method of asset allocation would you recommend?
