Market Forces in the Week Ahead By Ben Statz 12/1/00 12:15 PM ET dismal.com The other sector to watch this upcoming week is chips. Semiconductor billings data will come out on Wednesday, which will likely point to still-strong volume, despite slowing PC sales, as usage shifts away from traditional desktops, but overall remains high. So far this year, however, the PC and chip sectors have been battered by earnings revisions and poor sales growth. A poor month for semiconductors could spell big trouble. Regards, JM
