moose,

I went out to the Amity Church Folk Festival outside of Pearl City, IL in the summer of 1968. Steve Goodman performed with a pal of his, John Prine. They completely blew away any of the other performers those two days. I never did develop much of an interest in Goodman. I found his content a bit thin. Prine was a big hero for a while. He had serious and interesting things to say in his lyrics. Though he eventually lost his edge, just as Bob Zimmerman, from your neighborhood, eventually did. Today, I'm not sure which singers/songwriters I care for. Jewel is very real. But wants to become too attached to Hollywood. U2 is a bunch of foreigners. The hip-hop crowd are from another planet, as far as I'm concerned. I'm looking for the next Cole Porter. "I get no kick from champagne, cocaine just drives me insane, but I'm beginning to get a kick out of you." :) Better than das boot I was seeing in your flames earlier. :)

Best, Ray
