and most of us said Thanks to them... Yes, we had the same experience with the DC cops and the uniformed secret service folks. They're just doing their jobs and keeping emotions from running too high. There were about 40-50 Republicans gathered on one corner, and maybe 10-15 democrats on the other, shouting each other down in a cheerful manner... kind of trying to "top" each other with a catchier chant. There were one or two "angry" folks on either side, but everyone put enough peer pressure on them to "cool it" that no one got out of hand. The funniest part was that a couple of parents had brought their 7-9 year old kids, and one of them was holding a Gore/Lieberman sign upside down. A couple of us kept trying to tell him (across the street) or motion to him to turn his sign over, but he apparently couldn't figure out what we were talking about. So I basically yelled out.. "I guess he must be a product of the public school system!!", which got a ton of laughter from our side... And someone on the other finally figured out what were laughing about and corrected the kid's sign... Overall, a pretty good time. Glad your experience was fun as well... Regards, Ron
