Bush's team shows less concern with democracy than with securing power.

Nice to encounter an open mind......LOL!

That's awful BS, RE: "Katherine Harris and Jeb
Bush have officially certified Bush the winner of Florida's electoral
votes even though the election is legally contested. Bush's team
shows less concern with democracy than with securing power."

The certification came before the contest, and no contest could ever begin, according to law, until Harris certified. So, quite the contrary, without the cert., there'd be no contesting the election- and the writer surely I'd think, has been through all this with the rest of us. When someone writes something like this, we know the bias is clear, so ruling out ignorance, I'm left with attributing a pure and knowing intent to deceive to the writer. I've gotta hate that.

Dear Tia,

I know it's late but it seems to me that you've fallen asleep at the keyboard again.

"...Katherine Harris and Jeb Bush have officially certified Bush the winner of Florida's electoral votes even though the election is legally contested. Bush's team shows less concern with democracy than with securing power. "

First of all, Ms Harris has a legal obligation to certify the election. There is no area for discretion here (unless, of course, you are the FLSC).

Secondly, an election cannot be "contested" unless the vote is certified. In other words, you cannot appeal a decision if a decision has not yet been made. For example, in the NFL, a decision on the field must be made. Only then can a referee review the play.

Thirdly, I suppose democracy is Gore's main concern, securing power is of no interest to him. The dozens upon dozens of lawsuits launched by Gore are simply because he likes to see his name in print....might I suggest he try Alphabet Soup instead.

Wake up now Tia!
