Phillip, you are correct that my statement should have said "absentee ballot applications", but the effect was to give one party an advantage not offered to the others. In my opinion, this is more serious than dimpled chads. The only reasonable legal outcome is either:

a) Count any Gore absentee ballots which arrived without the voter registration number. (There were some)

b) Or disallow the Bush absentee ballots with the added registration number.

Even as Republicans, we do not want to set the precedent that the party in control of the state is allowed to warp the outcome. We would be outraged if this went on in a Democratic state next time and we do not want them to have the Florida precedent to stand on.

We must preserve the right of the voters to elect the candidate of their choice with NO advantage given to those currently in power. Else the party in power will be very difficult to unseat.
