I bet next summer you will check the water very carefully before jumping in.

And when are we going to hear the story from the snake's point of view, when she was exploring a tree seeking a nice warm place to spend the winter and have her babies when, wham, this leaf fell off with her on it and she fell into this dark, dank big place of water rank with the smells of chlorine and human, and when, wet and miserable, she finally found a place to curl up among some leaves and try to calm her beating heart, suddenly she was seized in a huge hand, hoisted high into the air, and hung there helplessly until suddenly there was a horrible screaming sound and she was flung -- yes, FLUNG, back into the water where she lay, stunned and dazed, until she could finally creep into a little corner where she is still trying to regain her composure at this awful, terrible, horrible, no good experience.

The poor snake. I hope it doesn't give her babies lifetime traumas.

I am glad you survived to write about it. In the film version do you think you should be portrayed by Melanie Griffith or Goldie Hawn?

leaves had decided to fall off the tree

Is the alleged tree dispensable? If so, perhaps it could be crafted into an attractive stump. And Ish or CB or Gaugie wood be more than happy to come by and pick up the timber.

Thought of you Friday... when I, City Woman, looked death in the face in the wilds of my own back yard where I was attacked by a giant, deadly water moccasin and then almost died of hypothermia, barely escaping with all my fingers and toes, before I could crawl back to the house.

My Dear Divine Muff,

I am, indeed, deeply flattered that you should think of me
at such a moving moment as your chance encounter with this
small fellow of my race. Why, I, in the face of such intimate contact
with fellow Reptilia would be quite delighted at such opportunity.
I cannot say the same for Mr. Croc, although, I must admit...
somwhat bashfully, that I-I-I have, over time, indoctrinated
him to the delights of Reptilia-dom... having, upon numerous occasions,
left small garter or grass snakes in such chance places as
he was sure to "find them"...and be surprised...I hasten to admit,
not with great affection, but with growing tolerance for their sudden
appearance in sock drawers and cardboard boxes on truck seats....
;-}>

I hope that you will, at your earliest convenience, offer my
warmest greetings to the reptilian occupant of your pool,
should you have the enjoyment of a further chance encounter.

Most sincerely yours,

The Lady Crocodile
