mark,

As you, probably, know, I am considered somewhat of a rebel around here, but I understand the context of your question very well, IMO. From what I read in the New Testament, the "original" sin by Adam of eating the from the Tree of Knowledge (no apple was mentioned, and probably not involved), was removed from mankind by the sacrifice by Jesus Christ. It is my understanding that the whole purpose of Him being here, was to tear down the wall that had been erected between God and man by this sin, and allow discourse between them to, once again, be free, and to be a conduit to the Kingdom of Heaven.

The God I know, would not ever consider torturing a 2 year old child for something it was completely innocent of doing. Purists, and fundamentalists, may vehemently disagree with me, but I don't care. That is what I believe from what I have read in the Bible. I think your inability to understand Christianity, is because it has never been presented to you in the proper manner. I feel that humans have added punishments in their doctrines to suit their own ideas, and have passed them down over the centuries as established fact. If anyone wants to challenge me on this, so be it. The truth of the matter will become clear, only after we die, and no amount of discussion can change that.

Mark - I serve a very loving God who sees the hearts of people. To me that would also mean that He knows how much they know about Him and their exposure to His Word. Take into account an 80 year old native living with a tribe of people in some distant land never have been told about God & His Son, Jesus. I believe we are judged by "what we know" about our Heavenly Father and "how we each respond to Him". As to young children, they mature at different ages and their understanding has to be individually judged by God, Himself. Just as there are consequences in the natural world for wrong doing, there are many consequences and punishment in ignoring or continually being disobedient to God's Word. Most people whose hearts are sincerely trying to seek God and His Ways, also have a conscience and inner spirit that convicts them and are wise enough to seek His Forgiveness and His Strength to not repeat the same mistakes. Yes, I have seen some young children with more understanding and wisdom then older folks regarding God, but I do not place infants and tiny tots into this stage of maturity.

RE: "Good morning, I hope you don't mind if I add my 2 cents in on this subject."

Not at all. I'm certainly not an expert on the subject, nor have I spent much time investigating it. (As you can probably tell <g>). It was brought up at church on Sunday and I really have never heard much discussion on the issue. Nor have I seen it directly addressed in the Bible.

Best wishes,
