How do you know he did not dump SI vs. SI dumping him...my guess is that he got suspended from SI simply because he said things TLC did not agree with or he got the better of BSP and TLC reported him to SI on the unproven grounds that he was some sort of dopey mole for the democratic party (paranoia runs deep here!)...he then simply thought SI with all its censorship was not worth the $10 and simply dropped out of sight...happens each and every day here.
