I'm quite confident if you hit rewind in the trial, you'll find Bush's voting machine expert agreeing a Miami-Dade hand recount would be prudent. This is because he said a hand recount is necessary in a close election. When pressed, he tried to allege the size of the election mattered.

Hey, are we only talking about counting Miami-Dade votes and the disputed ballots in Palm Beach County? Neither, even when combined, constitutes a big election recount. In effect, Bush's witness became Gore's best witness. And it appeared like Judge Sauls clearly noted this.
