Daryl--<The difference is that New Mexico is only in RESPONSE to the shenanagins in Florida. The refusal to accept the election comes from Gore. THAT is
the difference. BIG difference. >

I don't see a handjob, but I do see self-deception. In order for a ballot to be accepted, there is both a dem and a rep observer. Look at the TV recounts. The issue is not righteousness; both sides have spent hundreds of millions in order to win, and both will do whatever they can get away with to win. The issue is whether one candidate can win after a fair review. I am convinced that if Gore were ahead biased people ( some of whom are named Daryl) would hold the exact opposite positions with the same degree of righteousness and indignation. Frankly, after Richard Palm's analysis of Harris --which was never refuted--I thought Cary's comments were tepid.

However, I am hardly surprised that Harris, being a republican campaigner, and, unlike the judges, completely dependent upon party support, agreed right down the line to stop while Bush was ahead. How could she do otherwise?
