CMOS opened down and then rallied inspite of lowered expectations. Could this be that CMOS said next quarter would be in the $.80 range. And people quickly figured out, "what's wrong with a 16 dollar stock thats going to have $.80 cents in earnings next quarter? I'll buy that, and so I added to my position. Sometimes logic does prevail.

Look at the following web site to give you some perspective:

lionshares.com

Look at the difference between AMAT, LRCX, CMOS, NVLS and CYMI. Note: enter the stock symbol for your favorite stock and see what the Mutual Funds are buying or selling or liquidating. The data is from Oct. 31 but the trend is valid. This may also explain the terrible weakness in LRCX in spite of them having a very good outlook.

I hope this helps.
