Good morning, Carolyn, I fell asleep on the sofa and just got up a little while ago.

Actually I thought the Dems did a lot better with the Republican witnesses than they did with their own witnesses, and would not be a bit surprised if Judge Sauls orders a recount, but my thought would be that he orders a recount of all the counties with punch cards. I think the Republican witnesses' testimony was sufficient to convince me that there is a problem with the punch card ballots that isn't entirely due to voter error, that hanging chads do occur just as a matter of course. But there was also testimony that the people who run the ballots through the machines are supposed to pick the hanging chads off. But once in a while there will be a chad that the stylus penetrates but doesn't pop off. This is from the testimony of the engineer who helped develop the machine.

The chads aren't just bumps, they have a stylus shaped mark in them.

So if the ballots are manually recounted, a stricter standard than the standard used by Palm Beach County would prevail.

Maybe Judge Sauls will ask Judge Burton to manually recount all the ballots cast in counties with punch cards.
