In, Global is a joke in some circles, but I think that it's being taken seriously in the case of TWA.

Article: Should Global's Offer Be Taken Seriously?

TWA up after Global Airlines announced a $298m stock and cash tender offer for TWA shares; Global has offered to buy up to 100% of outstanding TWA stock for $3.75

It's unclear whether this is a serious offer or not; Global Airlines is privately held, it owns no airline operations nor any planes for that matter - a spokesman said Global is a holding company that wants to get in on the airline business

This is the second time in less than 5 months that Global has tried to buy TWA; last June it offered $380m or $5/share; back then TWA told Global to talk to its banks - now Global is offering $298m or $3.75/share

TWA says that it does discusses business transactions with others; it doesn't disclose such discussions until some agreement has been reached - TWA says it is prepared top consider legitimate expressions of interest by credible parties

One TWA analysts says Global doesn't have the assets and is a "non-offer offer" not to take seriously

TWA spiked when the first offer came in back in June and it's up again today; TWA is considered a good take-over target because of its considerable assets, including 26 jets and a 26% stake in the World Span computer reservation system

TWA has not shown a profit in over 10 years; tonight the Global head will go to NY to meet with Wall Street bankers to garner the necessary cash to buy TWA

He says it will be donedeal by the end of the year and that Global will trade on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol GAC
