Regarding China Railway news, 2 things come to mind:
1. China Telecom uses its fixed line system to help implement its wireless system, somehow (I am not clear just how this is accomplished, but it was cited in an article as the reason China Telecom can undercut Unicom on wireless prices) Maybe China Railway will have similar sites?
and
2. Could China Telecom be one of the vestigial Colonialist Strongholds which the New Chinese Government is seeking to dismantle, or at least diminish their power?? Thus, another spike into the coffin of Controlled Markets? Certainly the bombastic remarks from China Telecom about they would use wCDMA and nothing else, which reminded me of ATT comments about EDGE or nothing else, and the NOK Gang et.al. being so cozy with them...leads me to believe CDMA has been used to help liberate the world's largest telecom market from the grips of Colonialism to the open fields of Free Market System with competition driving consumer advantages. My hopes are with the Chinese consumers on this one. I suffer from SBC control of PacBell without competition; Only by having competition will the Chinese people avoid my fate here in California.
