Roger, your quotes are in italics:

the facts surrounding the counting, and lack thereof, are being beat to death on CNN in the court case. No need to rehash here.

On the contrary, there is a particular need to rehash the facts here, especially if your only source of information is CNN.

Simple logic tells me that the GOP knows that a full recount would yield a Gore result, else the GOP would not oppose the recount but would urgently complete it so Bush could get on with the transition.

I'm hoping you will share that simple logic with me and the thread.

Proper counting is simply examining the votes not counted by machine to determine if the voter CEARLY expressed an intent not picked up by the machine. A simple request to which any candidate in any election is entitled. (And "clearly" does not involve the use of a microscope, the intent must be obvious and unambiguous)

This sounds very nice. But I would trust it only if I made all of the judgements. You trust me to do the right thing don't you? And on whom would YOU rely to do this counting?
