Hi John,

FWIW, most of my family are Democrats. Many of my friends in the area are Democrats as well. I've discussed my POV on this election with them in the same terms as on SI.

As heated as some of the discussions became, we remained respectful of each others POV & no relationships are damaged or anything of that nature.

I've found that some are now in fairly strong agreement with me as they watched this debacle unfold. Some of them are in general agreement, but want to see how the courts rule before they make their final conclusions. And yes, there are some that disagree with me & think the Republicans are wrong. Pretty even distribution among each group too.

My Republican peers are solidly behind Bush & have lost serious respect for Al Gore. Some feel this will be quite damaging to the Democratic party.

Although this is not a representative sample, it seems to follow the trends in the daily polls.

Oh, I do have many philosophies that would be considered liberal. I actually do not support any party blindly, nor would I ever support any group or party blindly. I make my own decisions, stand up for what I believe in & stand against what I do not believe in.... even if my closest friends or family are in complete disagreement.

And when I am wrong I can & do admit to my mistakes & learn from them.

As for my motivation to stand up to bullies who insist on malicious personal attacks replete with lies, distortions & intentional deceit...... when it stops, I will stop exposing it. Pretty simple way to achieve resolution, no?
