This is of course part of the "fog of war" that both political parties are engaged in creating in order to create FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt). The clear message to me is that we will never know the full truth of this election. Talking about crazy spin, someone on this thread (I can't recall who) said that Barry Richard, the Bush lawyer, is a Democrat. He has stated that he is doing his work for Mr. Bush on a pro-bono basis. This would be unique in world history, if both of these statements were to be true. It is preposterous on the face of it that Richard is a Democrat, yet this stuff somehow gets traction on these gossip threads. As far as the Wall Street Journal article, what you have presented is an accusation with no proof of inaccuracy provided. I know that from the oral court presentation that Dr. Hengartner's work was called into question. As any plaintiff's expert witness tesimony would be. However, in spite of Phil Beck's and other's cross examination, I don't feel that the Republicans have in any way proven that there were not differences in the rate of undercount in the two types of machine. The snippet from John Fund's Political Diary proves nothing. It doesn't even say what aspect of Dr. Hengartner's affidavit was in error. This editorial piece is clearly not even attempting to get at the truth or be fair. It is mere partisan ranting. Anyway, I'm listening to Barry Richard, and I find that he is eloquent, and sometimes persuasive. I'm also sure that he would and could argue that the sun rotates around the earth, if his side thought it needed that proven in a court of law. Best, Ray :)
