straight life,

Mike; doesn't this also mean Q/Spinco has now acquired one extremely powerful competitor in the CDMA chip biz?

Companies today need to accept that they live in an environment of co-opetition (coexisting cooperation and competition). TI's reputation and resources as a manufacturer brings a lot to the party. The agreement inherently makes TI a partner of Spinco. It's not unusual that partners on one level compete with each other on another level because that sort of relationship inures to the benefit of both parties.

Does Q get zero for all their patents for TI? How can Qcom make any money after the spin-off spinco if they cross license?
