Bush didn't "decline" Gore's "offer" of a statewide recount.
The so-called offer was made when it was too late to request it. Consequently, the "offer" was meaningless.

I had no objection to Gore's initial requests for recounts
because he was entitled to make those requests.

What I object to is what he's put this country through ever since. At this point, it's time to be a statesman and let it go. There is simply no way to recount anything and produce an "accurate" result at this point that anyone will believe.

I am also dismayed at the race card being played. This is a time to start healing the country, not to divide it further.
It seems that when matters devolve to the race card, it's like capitulation selling in the market. The end is near.

"Bush declined Gore's offer for a statewide recount. Instead, he chose to complain that Gore asked for a recount in four counties only."

I guess we'll see if that was a good strategy or not. When Sauls agrees with GWB your point will be harder to argue. Also, Gore had no authority to offer the statewide recount. Sounds good to his fans, though. Sure pumped you up.

"I guess it didn't matter that Florida law allowed Gore to [request a recount]"

But four times?!
Once was not enough?

"Bush declined Gore's offer for a statewide recount"

Why on earth would he agree to a recount? Bush won....he won again....and yet one more time he one. Now gore is looking to count the votes for the fourth time. :-(
