They vacated the decision and remanded back to FSSC - without ruling on any Federal issues.

SO, FSSC is overturned - but is given a chance to do it again if they so desire.

For now - it means deadline was Nov 14 - not Nov 26 - and results are back to Nov 14

I don't know. According to CNN's people, they overturned the FSC decision.

The U.S. Supreme court set aside the Florida Supreme Court ruling, in effect, overturning its deadline extension and putting everything back to November 14th. The question now becomes: Is Gore's contestment of the election timely? A whole new legal front!

MD,
My understanding is that they vacated and remanded, not reversed, which means they gave it back and told them to start again.
They really didn't rule FOR either Gore or Bush. (though it is hardly a great thing for Al- BUsh is ahead again by 900+)
