Dave,

I'm not surprised that some Democrats are wimping out right now. Yesterday's poll still showed 52% support for Gore, which is about what should be expected.

Like I said, the thing which terrifies Democrats most is the prospect of winning. That is why they nominated unelectable candidates for most of my lifetime, and failed to stand up for the one guy who actually had the guts to do what it takes to win.

Dave,

A friend (who is a Republican) told me this morning that on one of the Sunday talking head shows (the one with George Will?), they were starting to call the current market downturn the "Gore Recession". While I'd say that's not even remotely true, it's certainly not a label I'd want to be saddled with.

Character assassination is a finely honed art among the Republican elite.
