If nothing else, this election will guarantee the survival of the Electoral College(even though on the surface, the pop vote difference would make one think different).

Now, if the Electoral College could be tweeked in the future to allocate votes similar to the methods in ME and NE, we wouldn't even be in this dilemma right now since all of the current counties in contention weren't close. EC votes would have been allocated by congressional district. Gore would have gotten a batch, gone over the top and he would have won.

Then of course we would be doing this in NM,IA, WI elsewhere, but it would at least be localized.

It would make this mess look like a walk in the park.

Any time an election is not transparent it creates a mess.
The ballots will be analysed and reported. The reports should be ready just about the time people are thinking of the next election cycle.
